TYND LAMAULD is a soft, rustic single ply yarn consisting of 50% llama wool and 50% Peruvian Highland wool.
The length is 220 meters per 50 grams. The recommended gauge is 28 sts x 40 rows and the recommended needle size is 2.5 - 3 mm.
The fibers of the llama wool are an exclusive natural product, lanolin free, light, and strong. The hollow construction of the fibers gives an unusual, good insulation capacity. Therefore, the llama wool is significantly warmer than ordinary sheep wool. The yarn's rustic look, high insulation capacity and strength, makes TYND LAMAULD particularly suitable for classic Nordic knitwear, shawls, scarfs, baby blankets and other clothing that needs to be light, strong, and warm.
TYND LAMAULD blooms when knitted and washed. A knitted and washed swatch is therefore recommended to get the full impression of the qualities, look and softness of the yarn. Llama wool has naturally very varied lengths of the fibers, which gives surplus fibers in the work process. Most of these fibers are washed out at the first washes, which makes the result even softer. NOTICE, because of its thickness and the single ply, it has a tendency to twist in the knitwork, when worked in the round in stockinette stitch with a single strand. If working in the round it is recommended to either double strand, or pair with a another yarn such as Midnatssol.
TYND LAMAULD from CaMaRose is produced in Peru with consideration for both environment, animal welfare, the local farmers, and workers. High quality demands, as well as consideration for both environment, animals and people in the production, is the foundation for the spinning mills collaboration with CaMaRose since 2010.
