Lamauld is a soft but rustic aran weight single ply yarn made from 50% Llama and 50% Peruvian Highland Wool. Llama fibers are a luxurious product. The fibers are lanolin free, lightweight and strong. The hollow structure of the fibers insulates exceptionally well against the cold. Because of how its spun, Lamauld only reveals its true character after washing. Knitting and blocking a swatch is highly recommended. By nature, llama wool has varying fiber lengths, creating excess fibers. The first couple of washes will remove the majority of these fibers, making the finished project even softer.
Lamauld is manufactured in Peru under great consideration for the environment, animals and people. The manufacturer is Oeko-Tex certified for all its wool products and uses solar power in production. The high-quality products, as well as the consideration shown for the environment, animals and people, are the reason CaMaRose started collaborating with the mill in 2010.
