Simple Wide Brim Beanie

The Wide Brim Beanie is a simple standard beanie pattern with a wider than usual brim. Using two strands of Knitting For Olive Merino, this beanie is super soft and quick to knit.

What you need:

2 x 50g Knitting for Olive Merino (pictured in light gray)

3.75mm (40cm) circular

4.5mm (40cm) circular

4.5mm DPNS

Tapestry needle



With 3.75mm needles and yarn held double, cast on 92 stitches. Join to work in the round.

Round 1: *K1, p1* repeat to end of round.

Repeat round 1 until piece measures 10cm.


Change to 4.5mm circular needles

Work in stocking stitch (knit every round) until piece measures 22cm from cast on edge


Decrease for crown: (change to DPNS when necessary)

Round 1: *K1, ssk, k18, k2tog, place marker* repeat 4 times (8 stitches decreased)

Round 2: Knit

Round 3: *K1, ssk, knit to 2 stitches before marker, k2tog, slip marker* repeat 4 times

Round 4: Knit

Repeat rounds 4 and 5 until there are 20 stitches remaining.

Next round: k2tog * repeat to end of round (10 stitches remaining)


Cut yarn leaving a 20cm tail, thread through remaining 10 stitches, pull tight and fasten on the wrong side. Weave in loose ends.
